Evanescence é uma banda de metal alternativo dos Estados Unidos, vencedora de dois Grammy Awards, formada em Little Rock, Arkansas em 1995 pela cantora e pianista Amy Lee e o guitarrista Ben Moody . Depois de gravar alguns discos caseiros, a banda lançou o seu primeiro álbum de estúdio, Fallen, com a Wind-up Records, em 2003. Fallen vendeu mais de 16 milhões de cópias em todo o mundo e ajudou a banda a ganhar dois Grammy Awards. Um ano mais tarde, a banda lançou o seu primeiro álbum ao vivo, Anywhere but Home, que vendeu mais de 2,5 milhão de cópias em todo o mundo. O segundo álbum de estúdio, The Open Door, de 2006, vendeu mais de 8 milhões de cópias.

A banda sofreu várias alterações ao longo do tempo, incluindo o co-fundador Moody, que abandonou a banda em 2003 em meio a uma turnê européia; o baixista Will Boyd em meados de 2006, seguido pelo guitarrista John LeCompt e pelo baterista Rocky Gray em 2007. Amy Lee é agora a única membro original restante.

Atualmente estão gravando o terceiro álbum de estúdio, previsto para 2010.
